Questions
The short answers. If yours isn't here, ask it through the pilot form.
The basics
What is Kinbox?
Kinbox is for parents and nominees who self-manage an NDIS plan. Every provider sends invoices to one family address. Kinbox reads each one, checks it against the plan and lays out the claim.
Once a week you check the list, lodge the claims in my NDIS and pay everyone in one go from your own bank.
Who is it for?
Families who self-manage an NDIS plan, and people who self-manage their own. If more than one child in the family has a plan, they all sit in one household with one address.
How do invoices get in?
Give each provider your Kinbox address once, and they send invoices there. For an invoice that arrives some other way, forward it to your Kinbox or upload a photo or PDF yourself.
What if Kinbox can't read an invoice?
It tells you what it couldn't read and the likely reason. Forward a clearer copy to your Kinbox, or type the details in. Nothing is claimed until it's right.
Does it work with unregistered providers?
Yes. Kinbox works with any provider who sends you an invoice. You keep every provider and every rate you chose.
Claims and money
Does Kinbox lodge my claims?
Kinbox gets the claim ready. You still lodge it in my NDIS yourself, because the NDIA doesn't let apps lodge for self-managers. Every field is laid out to copy across, with the invoice ready to attach.
Does my money go through Kinbox?
No. No family money passes through Kinbox. You pay providers from your own bank, and Kinbox never holds or moves money.
How do I pay everyone?
Kinbox gives you one pay list for the week, with each BSB, account, amount and reference ready to copy. If your bank takes ABA files, you can download one file for the whole list. Most banks only take them on business accounts.
When you mark a provider paid, they get a remittance by email.
What is the 90-day rule?
From 1 December 2026, a claim has to be made within 90 days of the support. Before that, it was two years.
Kinbox shows the days left to claim on every invoice and puts the ones getting close into this week's claim pack.
What if a provider's bank details change?
The invoice is flagged and nothing is paid until you've checked. Call the provider on a number you already have, type in what they tell you, and Kinbox matches it to the invoice. A change like this is how invoice fraud usually starts.
What does it cost?
We haven't set the price yet. It will be on the home page, per family per month, before Kinbox asks anyone to pay.
The NDIA's self-management guide says Core funding can pay for software that helps you self-manage. Check it fits your plan before you pay from it.
Your information
Where is my information kept?
Your invoices and bank details stay in Australia. Bank details are encrypted, and Kinbox can't pay anyone: money only ever moves from your own bank.
Kinbox is built by Jiffi, which is ISO 27001 certified.
How long are records kept?
Every invoice, claim and payment is kept for the legal record-keeping period: 3 years for participants and 5 years for nominees. You can export all of it in one go.
Can I delete my information?
Yes. You can delete your household's information, and take every record with you first.
Is Kinbox part of the NDIS?
No. Kinbox is independent software for families who self-manage. It isn't part of the NDIS or the NDIA, and it works alongside my NDIS.
The pilot
Who can join the pilot?
The first pilot is 20 to 30 families who self-manage an NDIS plan. Join the list and we will be in touch.
What happens after I join the list?
We email you about the pilot. Nothing else goes to that address. To be taken off the list, reply to any email we send.
